Martin’s artist multiple is his latest culmination of conceptual and physical subtraction. During his work in shaping and reinforming much of Robert Johnson’s interior and exterior design objects, Martin collected remainders of his contributions and partitioned them meticulously into samples. In each part or as an ensemble, they resemble care cosmetics or homoeopathic products, yet they truly are an amalgamation of artistic labour and dedication to many nights at the club.
Artist Martin Wenzel has been transforming discarded furniture and other objects for a long time, iteratively atomizing them occasionally in order to create a totally different object each time. His creations to Robert Johnson’s interior and exterior are integral, be it bars, tables, chairs and more. As a former student of both the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach and the Städelschule Frankfurt am Main, his ties with both creative pools tell tales about the club being an effective melting pot of both art scenes.
